Lately, I’ve been listening to the pulse of Americans, knowing that as citizens stir restlessly in their beds, they are trying to come to grips with the “falling of America.”
How do I know this? Because… (and I’m not ashamed to admit it) it’s what I’m doing, too…
If you believe everything you see on Cable TV, America is failing the test. Finally, after years of decadence and wanton excess, it seems that our fate has finally caught up with our children.
Whaaa? Yes, I said “our children.” Because they’re the ones who will have to live with the sorry situations and crisis conditions that we have created for them. They are the ones who will have to carry the burden of our failures, as it sculpts their lives and the lives of their families.
And, as things start to spin slowly out of control, I’m really hoping that we all start thinking about the future, and our past.
Will America answer the call and begin healing? Or will “the powers that be” simply attempt to take control by whatever means necessary, seeking to quell and to herd us back into our houses, while they try to determine how best to control us, while they commit to act after act of seemingly nonsensical political gyration??
How will we as citizens react, if there isn’t any bread in the stores or gasoline in the pumps? It wasn’t so long ago that we watched the looting of major metropolitan cities, as the “unruly masses” took matters into their own hands.
.
Now, understand that I’m not advocating taking the law into your own hands, acting like a vigilante, or doing anything “unconstitutional or unlawful.” But, I am worried about what “others” may do. It’s in “those” conditions that I may have to defend my family from “any and all.” And rest assured, I’ll do it. My family is the only thing I love, besides G_d. That said;
I remember watching the Watts Riots (in Los Angeles, CA) on television, as a youth. I remember being so close to it that we could see the convoys of law enforcement and troops being deployed to “suppress the chaos.”
I remember watching the looting of Los Angeles, after Rodney King. Man, LA must be a magnet for mischief, huh? But, the same things happen in Detroit, NYC, and probably even big cities where you live, too.
When things finally get to the point where they are “out of control,” can we expect any less now?
This isn’t such an outrageous question, given the past…
And, we’re not only in a position to fear each other, we might want to keep a “weather eye” on the White House, as well…
Remember “Ruby Ridge,” or “Waco,” or even “Kent State?”
All of these names should strike terror into the heart of Americans. In each of these cases, Gov’t troops used deadly force against American Civilians. And in each case it was the actions of an overzealous “presence of force” that innocent children were murdered. American children. C-H-I-L-D-R-E-N.
Children like Sam Weaver, or Sandra Scheuer, or (in the Waco “incident”) 25 children under the age of 15.
(Yes… where Waco is concerned, I consider firebombing and ramming a tank into a building populated by women and children “deadly force” and even “murder.”)
Do I think that every adult involved in these situations was without blame? Of course not. But, in the end (if I’m to be totally honest about my feelings), the only thing I really care about is the children who were killed, because other adults made bad decisions for them. As a father with a LOT of combat time, that is where my heart breaks. And in the end, I think that the people in authority should have erred on the side of the children’s safety, at all costs. Period. One “cooler head” should have prevailed, and clearly didn’t. The coffin’s tell the tale.
Maybe those same politicians I spoke of earlier would think it useful for us to think of these events as “friendly fire” or “fratricide.” Killing our own youth, with our own troops or “enforcement squads,” because democracy and common sense clearly failed.
Isn’t the point of democracy to define and control what to do, in lieu of violence or deadly force?
As I sit here, I remember places of MY past, places where violence and fear were used to control the masses, while those in “control” carved out their territory. I spent much of my adult life in places where similar conditions existed. Places like Central America, the Middle East, and South East Asia. I’ve seen enough spilled blood to fill a sea. I’ve buried enough innocent children to make any grown man cry in anguish. And once again, I can smell the smoke rolling in… I remember how fast things spiraled out of control and I remember how many civilians, innocent men, women and children… were caught in the middle, and then placed in peril and jeopardy.
I remember how the very first action by officials, authorities, and despots was to “disarm the masses.” Only after disarming the populace, were the powers in control able to suppress the people.
I’m hoping and praying that things get better, and a “critical mass” situation is avoided, but I just don’t see it.
Apparently, neither does the administration. How else do you explain all those “prefab prisons, and their huge manifests of shackles and other “confinement” paraphernalia?
Foreclosures are at an all-time high, despite intervention by Obama, and his “expert” minions. As I write this, one in four homes is America is in some manner of foreclosure action. One in four.
Unemployment numbers soar, as industry after industry starts to cave in on itself, and beg from alms from the Government. I’ll remind you that the “government” doesn’t pay those “bailout bills,” the citizens do. The bailout is just another set of shackles placed around the necks of the American people as the recipients build multi-million dollar vacation homes, fly around in private jets being catered to like token “demi-gods,” and throwing million dollar “celebration parties” at their sudden changes of fortune.
And in the face of chaos, Congress does what it always does. It looks somewhere else. In spite of the plight of the citizens, Congress has turned it’s “mighty gaze” onto “water-boarding” (terrorist interrogation), and seemingly fled like lemmings from public view in areas where (in my view) it really matters more… like saving the middle and lower class (no offense intended) citizens who actually built this nation on the toil of their backs… as the nation starts to fray around the edges, in part from the “political attention” that got us in to this mess.
Sure, I’m concerned about using torture. I’ve made my position known before.
If you threaten to harm my family, and you have information I need, well… you’re gonna have a bad day.
Are there rules? Sure…
I honestly believe that you should do everything you can to get what you need by being “textbook nice.” And then, if that doesn’t work out…
First, Oversight. I’ll pop a fresh tape into the video recorder, so that you can see what I’ve done to jog your memory. Anybody else who wants to watch it is welcome to. After all, we teach by example. In fact, you know what? I’ll put it on YouTube. That way, you’ll think twice about coming into my neighborhood with bad intentions stuck in your tiny little cranium.
(Yes, I’ll put all the appropriate warnings on it, so that your kids don’t see it. After all, their lives are hard enough now, without… um… er… more horror.)
Second, I’ll spell out, clearly and comprehensively, what manner and length I’m willing to go to, to insure that I get the information I need to insure my families survival. And if you don’t “speaka de english?” Well, I’ll get you your own personal translator and even a crayon or two… just to make sure. I wouldn’t want to violate your rights or anything…
Third, I’ll go slowly, so that you have plenty of time to reconsider, and make your life easier on yourself (and maybe even longer), by simply cooperating.
And fourth, just like “Dread Pirate Robert” says… It’s not gonna be “to the death…” it’s gonna be “to the pain.” I’m gonna keep you alive and awake for a very long time, because I wouldn’t want you to miss anything that you might want to tell your grandkids about later. And frankly, I want you around as a “poster child” for “Don’t even mess with me.“
And “Last but not least…” I’m a “spiritual kinda guy.” I have no problem introducing you to G_d, personally, if it comes right down to it. Hell, I’ll even give you a little bit of time to cultivate a relationship with Him, before I commence with the “How do you do’s…”
But I’ll offer you this little tidbit of insight, to help you stay out of trouble. Don’t come here looking to start anything, don’t ever @$#&!! with my family, and you won’t ever find yourself in a position to be afraid of talking about “anything you might know, that might save my kin.”
Okay, I’m a dick. You play with the bull, you get the horns. If you’re not willing to go to GREAT lengths to safeguard your family, well… I feel really sorry for you, and even sorrier for your family. You think I’m an asshole? You haven’t seen anything yet. Get over it. End of my “interrogation speech…” for now.
Back to the “present crisis;”
On the hill, in that place where Republican and Democrat live side by side, rattling sabers and swilling ancient single malt scotch, they seem rather disinterested in our “daily lives.” They live insulated lives, where the humdrum existence of American life is boiled down onto spreadsheets, so that their “campaign managers and staff speech writers” can further digest it before they put their own special brand of “spin” on it.
Sure… there’s a lot of finger-pointing going on, but for all the “camera-grabbing,” and controversy, nothing is getting accomplished to actually help the citizen. We’re apparently far too busy catering to lobbyists, bailing out corporate fatcats, and sleeping with Wall Street.
So, it looks more and more to me like if we’re gonna save our families, we’re going to have to do it by ourselves, in spite of those “elected idiots” who claim to be our “salvation.”
And that brings me to the “real” topic of today’s post;
I believe EVERY citizen of the United States, should be armed and capable of defending him/herself.
And next time… I’m gonna tell you why.
Stay tuned.
